From start to finish, my experience at Clinica Juno in Lisbon was nothing short of excellent.
Dr. Julio Matias is a master of his craft. The reconstruction is incredibly precise, and the aesthetic results are already outstanding. What surprised me most was the recovery process—I have experienced no pain, which speaks volumes about the surgeon's skill and technique.
The entire staff at the clinic deserves recognition as well. They are professional, attentive, and make communication easy and stress-free. For context: before moving to Portugal, I consulted with clinics in both Amsterdam and New York. Neither felt quite right. From the moment I met Dr. Matías, that changed. The trust was immediate.
What sets Juno apart is the patient care, start to finish. The consultation was thorough, the pre-op process made me feel genuinely safe, and the follow-up continued well beyond the operation itself. Three months out, the team is still responsive via WhatsApp. Fast, warm, and personal. The messages come with actual heart reactions, which sounds small but somehow captures the whole atmosphere of the place.

The pricing is transparent and all-inclusive. My package covered the procedure, liposuction, and laser scar treatment. I would not have thought to ask for the latter two myself, but that is exactly the point. They know what produces the best outcome and build it in, rather than leaving you to piece it together.

The collaboration with JCS Hospital in Carcavelos added another layer of reassurance throughout the pre-op process.

My review is three weeks post op.

From my first contact with Clinica JUNO, my experience was confidence building.  The staff responded immediately to my email and a consultation was promptly scheduled.

The day of my first consultation was professional and encouraging. Inês and Taynã are very welcoming and reassuring.

My consultation with Dr. Júlio Matias was professional, thorough, and realistic.  He quickly put me at ease and explained everything thoroughly.

My surgery was performed at the Clinica Cirúrgica de Carcavelos   The entire staff, from the floor nurses and assistants to the surgical team (including Dr. Tatiana) was suburb.

My subsequent follow up consultations with Dr, Júlio have been excellent.  I am very happy with my results.  Dr. Júlio is a highly skilled surgeon who also shows genuine care and empathy throughout the process.

Tatiana Gigante is an exceptional professional, empathetic, calm, and a real pleasure to work with. I immediately trusted her judgment, and everyone I’ve recommended to her has had fantastic results. The staff are friendly and highly competent, the clinic itself is beautiful, and the location is very convenient, close to a parking garage with plenty of spaces (a rarity in Lisbon!). If you’re not in Portugal and planning to come in for a procedure, she also offers video consultations in some cases. I truly can’t say enough good things about this clinic.

I’ve had Submental liposuction and radiofrequency (RF) + Breast reconstruction with implants + Abdominoplasty with liposuction of the back, flanks and sacrum + fat grafting to the gluteal contour + Radiofrequency. Yes, it might sounds a lot, but recovery went smoothly and in two weeks i back to my normal life. I’ve had lots of support from the day one and through all my recovery. Perguntas frequentes

Como devo escolher o meu cirurgião plástico?

Os cirurgiões plásticos da JUNO são credenciados, com formação completa reconhecida em Portugal e na Europa. Deverá sempre confirmar a formação de um cirurgião no site da Ordem Médicos.

A cirurgia plástica faz desaparecer as cicatrizes?

Não. No entanto, a equipa JUNO utiliza as técnicas mais atualizadas para que o resultado seja o mais impercetível possível. Apesar disso, alguns pacientes são um desafio.

Preciso de fazer algum exame antes de ser operado com anestesia geral?

Sim. Para poder ser sedado ou anestesiado, é necessário um estudo de rotina com análises sanguíneas, mesmo para pacientes saudáveis. Para pacientes acima dos 30 anos, é também necessário um RX do tórax e um eletrocardiograma feito nos últimos 6 meses.

Preciso de fazer algum exame antes de uma cirurgia com anestesia local?

Não. Se é saudável, não precisa de fazer exames de rotina para procedimentos com anestesia local.

Preciso de fazer algum exame à mama antes da cirurgia mamária?

Sim. No caso da cirurgia mamária em pacientes saudáveis, com menos de 35 anos, e sem historial de doença familiar, é preciso um despiste através de ecografia mamária. Os pacientes acima desta faixa etária deverão também realizar uma mamografia.

Posso continuar a tomar os meus suplementos e/ou chás antes de uma cirurgia?

Depende. Deve comunicar à equipa JUNO todos os suplementos e produtos naturais que toma habitualmente, uma vez que há princípios ativos que podem trazer complicações durante e após a cirurgia. Por exemplo, o chá verde. Apesar das suas propriedades benéficas, o chá verde pode aumentar o risco de hemorragia na cirurgia e também de hematoma no pós-operatório, sendo aconselhável parar a toma cerca de 3 a 4 semanas antes da cirurgia.

O tabaco tem alguma influência numa cirurgia?

Sim. A nicotina tem efeitos negativos na cicatrização e nos retalhos e enxertos. Os fumadores demoram mais tempo na cicatrização e a pega dos enxertos de gordura é significativamente mais reduzida. Na cirurgia de facelift ou na abdominoplastia, as técnicas cirúrgicas são adaptadas pela equipa JUNO para assegurar um nível de segurança alto em pacientes fumadores.

O resultado da minha cirurgia vai-se alterando com o tempo?

Sim. Nas primeiras semanas o resultado está sempre associado a inchaço, muitas vezes com nódoas negras, e as cicatrizes ainda são recentes. Depois desta fase, e ao fim de 2 a 3 meses, o resultado começa a estabilizar, embora as cicatrizes ainda possam estar vermelhas e exigir atenção redobrada. Aos 6 meses, as cicatrizes ficam mais claras. Depois disso, o resultado evolui naturalmente, com a progressão do tempo.

Posso ter uma tromboembolia ou outra complicação grave numa cirurgia?

A equipa JUNO realiza os procedimentos de prevenção protocolados e, como tal, em pacientes saudáveis, o risco de complicações graves é exclusivamente estatístico. Quando o paciente tem patologias de base como diabetes, hipertensão arterial, antecedentes de tromboembolismo, entre outros, é realizada uma avaliação de risco e, só então, é discutida a possibilidade de um procedimento cirúrgico ou da utilização de técnicas alternativas não invasivas.

No dia da cirurgia ainda falo com o cirurgião?

Sim. No dia da cirurgia, o paciente é reavaliado e são feitas as marcações na pele, de acordo com o plano cirúrgico e com o registo fotográfico prévio. É nessa fase que se esclarecem as últimas dúvidas.
